Sources & postal methodology
Read the evidence behind the furnace content and understand what the Toronto postal map can—and cannot—establish.
Postal areas are an orientation tool
The map uses Statistics Canada’s 2021 census forward sortation area polygons and an explicit list of 96 mapped M-prefix areas. The six additional Toronto special assignments M5K, M5L, M5W, M5X, M7A and M7Y are recognised separately. M7R is excluded as a Mississauga postal assignment.
Census postal boundaries approximate statistical areas. They differ from Canada Post delivery geography and are not a live six-character postal-address directory. Canada Post’s February 2026 FSA list and Toronto’s service-area information were used as cross-checks. The postal list is dated, so a later postal change may require review.
The district groups are browsing labels. Some postal areas cross the former municipal boundaries; a group does not mean that every address in that FSA belongs to one historic borough. The finder validates input shape and membership in the included prefix list. It does not certify a complete code, geocode an address or confirm technician coverage.
Any furnace enquiry is limited to a physical property inside the current City of Toronto. The contact form asks for that confirmation. Exact automated address verification would require a separate address service and municipal-boundary check.

Technical sources and editorial boundaries
Public agencies and manufacturer documentation support the technical explanations. A manual cited as an example applies to the equipment it names; its installation dimensions, wiring, codes and service procedures must not be transferred to a different furnace. Use current instructions for the actual model.
The articles give original explanations and questions for owners. They are not remote diagnoses, installation designs or permission to work on gas, combustion or electrical components. Current equipment requirements and the appropriately qualified professional govern the specific work.
